May 19 - Officer Sidney Delince
Officer Sidney Delince joined the Savannah Police Department in 2020 and is currently an officer on the SPD Community Response Team.
Officer Delince played a vital role in locating a shooting suspect in April. The suspect had shot another man in the leg on N. Avalon Drive. Officer Delince and another officer with the Community Response Team were following leads on his location about one week later, which led them to a motel where the suspect was believed to be staying. Through the continued investigation, the officers were able to locate the suspect in a vehicle attempting to leave the location. Officer Delince conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, taking the suspect into custody without incident.
But it's not only his action from that specific incident that is being commended. Officer Delince's supervisors said he is a team player, who is always willing to do what is needed for the continued success of the team and betterment of the city he serves. He is constantly seeking out opportunities for personal growth and ways to make positive changes for the department and the citizens of Savannah.
